A bumper line up for 2015 at Marine Hall, Fleetwood

It’s Marine Hall’s 80th birthday next year and to celebrate there’s a jam packed calendar of shows and events coming up in 2015.
From festivals to live music, comedy to kid’s shows there’s
something for the whole family to enjoy.
Kicking things off is the annual Fleetwood Beer and Cider Festival on Thursday 5 to Saturday 7 February,
with over 120 UK cask beers and a range of cider,
perrys and beers from around the world. Other exhibitions in the calendar
include a Wedding Open Day on Sunday
8 March complete with a catwalk show by Blush Brides and Grooms of Poulton at
12.30pm, the annual Fylde Coast Food and
Drink Festival which takes place once again on Sunday 16 August and the Christmas Market which returns later in
the year on Sunday 29 November.
Comedy is back at Marine Hall with two Jongleurs comedy nights on 26 June and 16 October. Following
another sell out run at the 2014 Edinburgh Festival, comedian Patrick Monahan will also be at the
venue on Saturday 21 February with his brand new, energetically witty and
charming family show Adventures in Monahan Land. Then BBC Radio 4’s Mark Steel’s in Town is coming to Fleetwood on
Wednesday 18 March with his stand up show for locals based on what he finds out
about the area on his visit.
Next up, after a critically acclaimed total sell-out
spring 2014 tour, the Grumpies are back to knock some sense into the nation
with their new show Return of the Grumpy
Old Women on Saturday 11 April. Perrier Award-winning comedian,
writer and original star of Grumpy Old Women Jenny Eclair will be joined by fellow recruits Susie Blake (Mrs Brown's Boys BBC One, Coronation Street, ITV1)
and actress and singer Kate Robbins (Where The Heart Is ITV1,
Casualty BBC One) in this brand spanking new show.
There’s also plenty on offer for families and kids next year including
Pop Factor the Concert on Thursday
26 March. A celebration of today’s
top artists and the biggest chart hits, it’s a great night out for kids that’ll
have everyone up and dancing in the aisles. At Easter, Magic Light Productions is bringing Little Red
Riding Hood to the venue on Wednesday 1 April. This hilarious adaptation of the traditional story is a fun filled show that the whole family will
enjoy.
From the world of kids TV there’s two great shows coming up. The Chuckle Brothers are bringing
their brilliant new show Chuckles of Oz to the venue on Friday 29 May and Basil
Brush will be appearing in his Full on Fox Tour on Friday 7 August. Tickets
are already selling fast so be sure to book early to guarantee your place,
family tickets for these two shows are available.
Rounding up the family fun will be the annual Marine Hall pantomime
which next year will be The Wizard of Oz and will take place from
10 – 13 December.
There’s also plenty in store for music lovers. The Billy Fury Years on Saturday 28
February takes you on a musical journey through the
musical career of Britain's best loved rock 'n roller. Michael King and his
fantastic collection of musicians are bringing this exciting two hour show
filled with Fury’s greatest hits.
Back by popular demand, The Manfreds return to Marine Hall on Saturday
7 March and The Searchers
are
back, live in concert on Thursday 16 April.
If you love big band music be sure to catch Five Star Swing on Friday 20 March.
This unique feel-good big band show features Simone from the Ivy Benson
Orchestra, and Chris Smith Jnr composer and arranger for the BBC Radio Big Band,
come and swing along with songs from Glenn Miller, Sinatra, Basie and Ella
Fitzgerald.
The Band
of the Kings Division, one of the premier bands of the British Army, is appearing at Marine Hall on Saturday 21 March.
In constant demand for appearances across the world the band has a broad
repertoire to suit all tastes and its musicians have a highly acclaimed
reputation. You can enjoy the fabulous sound of this great brass band,
performing your favourite classics with passion and style.
Local bands and musicians will have the chance to perform on stage
and win a cash prize in the venue’s Battle
of the Bands on Saturday 28 March. With categories for young musicians,
soloists, duos and established bands and a prize fund of £1500 it’s a great
opportunity for all local performers.
On Saturday 25 April John Denver fans can enjoy Country Roads – A Celebration of John
Denver. The show will take you on a magical journey through his musical career and features
popular hits such as ‘Annie’s Song’, ‘Leaving on a Jet Plane’, ‘Rocky Mountain
High’ and title track ‘Take Me Home Country Roads’.
Another music highlight in the calendar takes place on Friday 19
June as Tony Denton Promotions presents X
Factor finalist Ray Quinn in Concert. Back with his brand new EP Old Soul; Young Blood, Britain’s youngest and most loved
crooner will be performing a whole array of new songs which are sure to launch
him to the forefront of the craft in which he shines - music.
The
Lindisfarne Story on Sunday 18 October is a celebration of Tyneside's best-loved band, their music and
their achievements. The show is devised, written and performed by
drummer/founder member Ray Laidlaw, and Billy Mitchell, front man for the final
eight years of the group. Ray and Billy perform acoustic versions of
Lindisfarne's classic songs and tell the inside story of the group's rise to
fame, from Whitley Bay to Frisco Bay, from Rothbury to Glastonbury.
Later in the year on Saturday 24 October there’s a night of Abba
with top tribute show Abbamania and The Bay City Rollers are also
returning on Sunday 15 November.
In recognition of the fact the Beatles played at
Marine Hall in 1962, brilliant tribute act the Mersey Beatles will be playing on Friday 27 November to
celebrate Marine Hall’s Birthday. Opened on 27 November 1935 Marine Hall
has been entertaining audiences for 80 years and looks set to be home to great
entertainment for many years to come.
